According to the Joint Ministerial Decision no. 8315.2/02/07/2007 (B’ 202), the Port is classified as of major importance. Subsequently, according to article 19th par. 4, paragraph e’ and par. of law 2932/2001, the Port is obliged to prepare a port development project program (PEAL) and a strategic environmental impact study (SMPE).

The port of Skiathos is located on the coastal front of Skiathos and its management body is the Municipal Port Fund of Skiathos.

According to article 159 of law 4635/2019 in combination with the no. 3000.0/87202/2023 decision of the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy (ΦΕΚ B’ 7380/27.12.2023), HRADF acts as a Planning Authority, within the meaning of environmental legislation [in accordance with the Joint Ministerial Decision (B’1225/2006)] for the Port of Skiathos.
